While most of us are working on the upcoming six new islands, we are of course still keeping an eye on what's happening on Nia. Based on your feedback and our own ideas we assembled a list of a few small but rather important changes, which we intend to implement in smaller patches before and around the world expansion patch.

Listed in no particular order, have a look around in our candy shop:

Global storage listing

Or as you call it on the forums: asset list. Probably one of the most requested features, this will allow you to browse all your items and belongings not only locally in a terminal, but also for remote terminals. Of course you will be able to do this also while you're outside on the terrain, all shown in a nice tree structure.

Removing NPC orders for kernels

Currently kernels are one of the two main sources of NIC income in the game (the other one being assignments). The problem is, kernels are also used in technology research. At first this seemed like a good idea, but due to how the economy developed so far, players quickly found themselves in front of a dilemma: "should I research those kernels and have no funds to manufacture the acquired technology, or sell them and fall more and more behind in the production race?". There is of course more to it, and I wouldn't want to go into details here, but you are welcome to discuss the issue in the comments or the forums.

To remedy this economic pitfall, we plan to introduce a new loot type which all NPCs will drop, and the Syndicate will buy them for a fixed amount. In line with this we will remove all NPC buy orders for kernels, so the kernel market will be completely controlled by players and their research needs.

Geoscanner folders

Yes, the current geoscanner result system is not very convenient, to say the least. You scan a tile, get a result item, upload it to your map, and in 99% of the cases you destroy the result items because they are not good for anything. We want to change this, so you will directly upload the results to your map, and you can create an item from there if you really need it.

We will also introduce folders for the result list, so you will be able to organize your results by mineral types, island locations or anything else you can think of.

Market rates graph

That abomination that you see on the rates tab of the market is probably one the oldest pieces in the game that we didn't get around to yet. The wait is over, the next patch will include the new and upgraded graphs, complete with daily high&low bands, traded amounts and global averages.

Event notification system

Another age-old fossil in the game is the so-called event log, that you can sometimes bring up if you click the little money icon in the lower right, only to never see it again. Originally this was intended to notify the player when something happened, received money, finished a manufacturing, and so on but sadly it has always been that poor little stepchild.

But soon it will receive some much needed love, since we intend to implement a notification system which most of you are probably familiar with. Small non-intrusive popups will notify you of everything important that may be of interest: friends coming online, market and production events, news and corporation bulletins and so on. Of course you will be able to individually set which events you want to be notified of.

CT trading

Direct trading of calibration templates (CTs) was disabled so far, because the system was not able to show the parameters of remote items, so you couldn't have checked the efficiency values of the CT you were about to buy from Mr. Scammer Guy. Now the system has been upgraded, so trading will be enabled again soon.

Market order modification

Price modification of your own market orders. I guess this doesn't need more explanation, coming soon to a rightclick menu near you.

Trophies/Losses details

Trophies and losses will get a details window, where all involved parties will be listed together with individual damages. This will be in a simple copy/paste-able text format, so those of you who would like to start some killboards will probably find this a useful addition.

Explosion damage

Robots exploding upon their destruction will deal area-of-effect damage to all other surrounding robots within a certain radius. Only on beta islands though, no cookie for griefers.

Spark teleport

The rules for this are far from final yet, but we plan to give you an option to teleport your spark (yourself that is, without any robots or items) to alpha terminals. You will probably need to pay a fee for this, but we believe this will be a useful logistics tool.

Performance-based assignment rewards

Why the fuss to shoot 10 Grunts when you can just hop in your trusty Arkhe, do some transport assignments, and get pretty much the same money in less time and with less risk? Over and over and over again? Can I have a "boooooring"?

Yep, the current missioning system is in dire need of a revamp. We'll introduce dynamic rewards based on average completion times, and also bonuses if you're faster than the average. Risk and distance covered will be much more rewarded than they are now.

Last but not least, check out our new feature site which launched just now in line with our free trials campaign! And of course, state your likes or disapprovals in the comments below.

CT trading market sounds interesting... kernel market...huhh brave move :)
and a lot of other stuff... omg again ... it's something :)
thx

2 DEV Gargaj

WTH abomination?!

It worked just fine >:(

3 Maynard Benaui

So you remove Kernel orders and then introduce new loot with the new orders...?

What's the point?

4 Kentaio

More than great, this together with the new islands, and all the progress the game is doing in updates, is gonna be so awesome! Thanks for the great post :)

I like the sound of these features however will this mean that once CT's can be traded they can only be dropped during PVP and can be put into containers.

Current CT's found at Artifact sites cannot be viewed until you pick them up. Would be nice if less items had these weird restrictions on them.

Please please please don't make geoscanning open the map every time. Opening the map tends to freeze things for a little while and when doing a tile scan most of the time I don't want a Map view. It would be nice to have the option to view on map or view on the terrain.

6 Gleamwar

The point , Maynard, is that the npc kernel orders are seen by a majority of the player base as a quick form of instant currency which precludes the chance for said kernels to be available for those of us who use the kernels as a research tool. It also sets a minimum price for kernels as no one would sell the kernels below what an npc buy order would gain. The kernel market might actually have an upsurge if players can not just arbitrarily dump their kernels, in lieu of dealing with a player driven economy.

7 Snowstyle

All of the changes sound good except for the spark teleport. F... that noise.

8 Maynard Benaui

Gleamwar:

I understand how Kernel economy works and I was the first and only one who wanted Kernel Buy orders to be removed long ago... I was called names for that, marvelous.

I have doubts it will be any good because new loot will again set a price for Kernels.

If new Loot sells for 10k NIC and Kernels for 5k NIC, I will fill my robot cargo with new loot instead of Kernels resulting in the same situation as now - you either have to place Kernel order higher than NPC buy order or there will be no supply.

tldr: NPC price for new loot needs to be lower than market price of Kernels - something hard to achieve and making new loot redundant anyway.

9 Kristan Delorian

Maynard, the point is:
1. Kill NPCs
2. Sell new type of loot to NPC
3. Sell kernels to players
4. ???
5. PROFIT!

10 Line

Explosion damage FTW!!

11 Maynard Benaui

Kristan:

Sorry for my comment being too complex to understand.

12 Kristan Delorian

Maynard: What you dont understand? Kernels must flow between the players, not disappearing by NPC buy orders. But fighters should have money source independent from kernel demand, so devs made new type of useless loot to sell it to NPCs. Kernels give extra money for fighters. This is a very good idea for sure.

13 Maynard Benaui

Me not understanding...? o.O

Read my comment couple times until you understand what the issue is.

I highly agree with him. Most of the time I don't wanna to see that freakin map, because its freeze my comp for a few sec (~3-4) - so in a nice spawn I die, when I scanning, than uploading. And i have to uploading, because need to know should I do the scanning again :)...

15 Andrew Redburn

Sooner or later Kernels will be useless/worthless since almost anybody will have maxed out research. In addition I bet most companies get kernels donated by their members which means (almost) no market anymore for them if NPC buy orders are removed.

Looking forward to the changes of the mission system and how that and the changes to kernel buy orders and new loot change the NIC income of a fighter pilot.

16 TRANTOR

Awesome!

+1

17 Tamas Vitez

Instead of new loot from NPCs, why not make a bounty on every NPC robot ? That way the NIC can be automatically distributed between squad members that tagged and killed the NPC.

18 Jelan

Cheers guys, some much needed stuff to make the interface and simple gameplay more user friendly

19 Maynard Benaui

Tamas:
No bounty means more loot for trading, your efficiency being limited by cargo space and more runs back and forth.

Those are definitely positive attributes.

20 Jita

They just need a bounty on the mission containers dropped and make all rats drop them. They are otherwise useless

21 Alexadar

I'm don't think that spark teleporting is a good idea. For example it can speed up gang, when agents have spare bots at alpha, and want to use this...mmm..."exploit"... to speed up gang movement.

22 Gremrod

Wait... wait.. Yup I shat myself on the market graphs!

@All, about the new loot vs Kernel etc.

The new loot that is used to only make NIC can be made to have a very low volume so you can still pick up kernels etc to make extra NIC.

23 Gremrod

==============================
The more I think about it the more I see your point Maynard. :)

24 xenogore

Next pach implants for acc weapons and corp recruting.

25 Maynard Benaui

@Gremrod :)

Fix recycling yield -> Fix repair price(fixed already?) -> Fix NPC prices -> Fix/remove Field containers -> Remove Kernel orders.

It might take a year or two but I am patient :)

Oh dear, how I was trolled for proposing no Kernel orders. Miraculously six months later it is a no brainer for everyone that it is an issue...

26 Maynard Benaui

I will add one more comment about proposed Assignment changes.

There are no details how that is supposed to work but it yet again seems as a change that is missing the point of what the issue is.

People are already rewarded for their efficiency. More EP and better equipment I have, more NIC I make from assignments. There is no need to emphasize the difference further as it seems from how it is presented so far, the gap between new and older player will increase even further.

Imo, it is trying to fix something that is supposedly broken by applying band-aid onto wrong place.

27 Alfredson

"There are no details how that is supposed to work but it yet again seems as a change that is missing the point of what the issue is."

Please don't whine and cry about something if you have no information on it. When it's released and it is what you say it is, give your opinion then.

You give off the impression that you know everything in the game, know every economics concept, every psychological concept, mechanic, etc. In other words, you think you are really smart and everyone who trashes you are stupid. While you may have some good points, you troll other people to not agreeing. You seriously need a wakeup call imo

28 Maynard Benaui

Alfredson:

I can't make up my mind whether I am that awesome or you are so easy to impress...

29 Honelith

Why not have less islands but make them bigger? Island hopping is going to be such a chore. :(

30 Maynard Benaui

Yay, new patch arrived...

So not only that there is new loot that still sets minimal price for Kernels because NIC/U value isn't affected but the drop rate of Kernels is reduced by 50% which means you essentially needs to pay double of what the price of plasma is :-)

31 Maynard Benaui

As for the Kernel drop rate nerf:

You basically cut the supply of Kernels by half. Why?

Was there abundance of Kernels on the market? Was it too easy to research?

You say you want to balance Kernels with new loot but that makes no sense whatsoever because you also removed the orders for Kernels! Income from Kernels is balanced out by supply/demand only(not counting the the issue with new loot as such I hinted before).

If demand remains the same and supply drops, the price will rise.

Only result you get from the change is that you just made it way harder for new, less wealthy people to get into production. You will not improve the game economy with changes like that. It really seems like you have no idea what you are doing...

"Only result you get from the change is that you just made it way harder for new, less wealthy people to get into production. You will not improve the game economy with changes like that. It really seems like you have no idea what you are doing..."

I agree!

I have skilled up research on the basis of kernal drops before patch now it just going to take me twice as long as before:(

You have to select a character to post.
